Alderman Thomas TJ Mayfield

The Ward 1 Alderman represents the citizens of the northern district of Vicksburg. Alderman TJ Mayfield was elected to the Ward 1 Alderman position on May 30, 2024 to fill the unexpired term of his father, the late Alderman Michael Mayfield, Sr.  He was sworn into office on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

Alderman TJ Mayfield is a Warren Central High School honor graduate and a graduate from Alcorn State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science Education and a Master’s Degree in Workforce Education Leadership. Alderman Mayfield is a former educator in the Vicksburg-Warren School District where he founded the Gentlemen of Intelligence, Valor, and Excellence, the Gator Career Closet, and Razor-Sharp Reading.

Alderman Mayfield is the youngest Executive Director of the Mississippi Kidney Foundation where he was named to the State Health Improvement Plan, Mississippi State Health Improvement Plan for Diabetes and Youth Mentorship Taskforce, Mississippi Alliance for Non-Profit and Philanthropy Health Affinity Board, and the Alport Syndrome Foundation Emerging Leadership Council and Advocacy Chair. While at the Mississippi Kidney Foundation, Alderman Mayfield was the Project Manager for the Care 4 Mississippi Medicaid Expansion coalition and led the Advancing Health Equity in Chronic Kidney Disease project with the Mississippi State Department of Health.

Alderman Mayfield is the former Madalene Barksdale's proud husband and Tahj's father.
