Voting by Absentee Ballot

Even if you cannot make it to the polls on election day, you may still be able to vote using an absentee ballot. Absentee voting is allowed for persons who are unable to go to the polls because of illness, physical disability, business or vacation plans, jury duty, military or school obligations, or jail confinement. You may also vote absentee if you are caring for a sick or physically disabled person.
Applications to vote absentee can be obtained only for municipal elections from the City of Vicksburg City Clerk's Office, located at 1401 Walnut Street, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, or call the office at (601) 634-4553 and an application will be mailed to you. General applications are only approved for absentee voting in the next election; however, voters that are physically disabled can request permanent absentee status. If you are approved for this status, you must vote in all primary and general elections held in your area. Failure to do so relinquishes permanent absentee status.

If your application is approved, you will receive a ballot in the mail. The completed ballot must be received at the City Clerk's Office by 5:00 p.m. on the day before the election. You may also complete an absentee ballot in the office by appearing in person between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and 8:00 a.m. and 12 noon the Saturday prior to the election.
