Business (Privilege) Licenses

According to City of Vicksburg Ordinances and the State of Mississippi laws, any person doing business, conducting any trading, calling or practicing any profession within the city limits of the City of Vicksburg, and any person opening an office for a place of business or by the use of signs or otherwise advertising any trade, business or profession within the city limits of the City of Vicksburg, shall make application to the City of Vicksburg City Clerk's Office for the license due under the ordinances and state codes.

Some businesses require additional or alternate licenses. For example, certain contractors, particularly those conducting home improvement, electrical, plumbing, mechanical or sign and tree repair must have a license from the City of Vicksburg Inspection Department. Food-related businesses must be cleared by the Mississippi State Department of Health. Restaurants, convenience stores and grocery stores in the city limits of Vicksburg must obtain a Beer and Light wine license from both the Mississippi State Tax Commission and the City of Vicksburg.
