Information Technologies

The Information Technologies Department of the City of Vicksburg supports computer hardware and software, web development, email, television (VTV), VOIP telephones, networking and radio communications systems for all City departments. There are currently about 300 users utilizing a variety of software suites. Our servers consist of LINUX, NOVELL and Windows Server machines. We use a combination of wireless, fiber and copper to interconnect the various departments throughout the City.

Information Technologies personnel are responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of the networks, installation of the cable plant, maintenance of all hardware, design, coding and maintenance of all custom in-house software and web development. We also provide help desk support to our more than 300 end users. The department is also responsible for the City's state-of-the-art digital radio communications system. The IT department also maintains several internal VOIP telephone systems consisting of around 250 telephones. The department has nearly 90 years of combined computer related experience among the five IT staff members.
