Open Storage of Junk Code

The City of Vicksburg Building & Inspection Department is responsible for maintenance and preservation of housing stock and structures as mandated by state and local building and property maintenance codes. The department inspects all structures suspected of violating code to insure compliance and issues notices of violations to the owners. Violations can be issued for everything from poor structural integrity to unsafe property site aspects as well as open storage of junk. If a violation is detected, a letter will be sent to the property owner requesting compliance to avoid fines and or criminal punishment. Special financing programs can assist owners in the rehabilitation and demolition of structures when they are not financially able to correct cited violations.
