Youth ProgramsThe City of Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of youth programs tailored to the interests and needs of youths under 15. Some are directly sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department, while others are offered in conjunction with another organization or instructor. These programs are offered in addition to the regular complement of leisure and athletic programs for youth offered by the Parks and Recreation. Some of the special programs include Summer Playground Camp where youth participate in games, exercise, swimming, and crafts for anywhere from a week to two months throughout the summer. These programs are designed to provide safe and fun activities for children ages 6 to 13.

Registration for this camp is not needed. The first camp will start in June. The site for this camp will be announced. A City of Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department program guide gives a complete list of youth programs that are available at each registration session. Fees for each program vary.

In addition to these opportunities, the Parks and Recreation department also host a City-Wide Easter Egg Hunt, Senior's Prom, Valentine's Dance, Harvest Festival, Art in the Park Contest, and other one time events, and can even help you start a program of your own. For more information or to receive a City of Vicksburg Parks and Recreation program guide, stop by their office, located at 102 Army Navy Drive, between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday, or call them at (601) 634-4514.
